OFFLIO operates on a "zero-knowledge" principle - your portfolio data never leaves your device. All calculations, storage, and analysis happen locally on your device. The only external communication is to fetch current market rates, and this is done without revealing any information about your holdings.
Everything related to your portfolio stays on your device: your assets, amounts, transactions, notes, and historical performance data. The only data transferred is anonymous API requests for current market rates. These requests are made without any identifiable information - just like checking a price on a website. No personal data, device information, or portfolio details are ever transmitted.
Your portfolio data is encrypted using AES-256 encryption, the same standard used by banks and military organizations. The encryption key is derived from your device's secure enclave (for biometric auth) or your PIN/password. The data is encrypted at rest, meaning even if someone accesses your device's files, they can't read your portfolio information without proper authentication.
OFFLIO implements multiple layers of security:
- Biometric authentication (Face ID/Touch ID) or PIN/password protection
- Automatic locking after inactivity
- Secure memory handling that clears sensitive data when the app is backgrounded
- Encrypted local storage with secure key management
All API connections use HTTPS with certificate pinning to prevent man-in-the-middle attacks.
Price updates are fetched through anonymous API calls that don't contain any identifying information.
If a connection isn't secure, the app will use cached data instead of making potentially insecure requests.
OFFLIO provides secure backup options without compromising privacy.
You can export your encrypted portfolio data to your preferred storage solution.
The backup file remains encrypted and can only be restored using your authentication credentials.
We recommend regular backups to prevent data loss.
The app also performs automatic encrypted backups to your device's secure storage area.
Offline mode gives you complete network isolation while maintaining full functionality.
The app caches rates data, allowing you to view your portfolio performance without any network connections.
You can even run the app in airplane mode indefinitely, only connecting when you choose to update prices.
Unlike cloud-based trackers, OFFLIO never stores your data on external servers.
